Beauty Boss of the Month - Sharon Marsh, Knock Knock Who's Hair - May 2022

Congratulations to Sharon for being the winner of the title of Beauty Boss of the Month, after being nominated by Paul at Gilmor Hair & Beauty Bridgend!

After congratulating her on being a winner, we asked Sharon a few questions about herself so that we could all get to know her better...

How did you get into Hairdressing?

I started an apprenticeship in Hairdressing after I left school and had work experience in a salon and I just knew then that that was what I wanted to do!

What was your most surprising part of the job?

The science behind colouring the hair as there is so much scientific knowledge behind it.

What has been your favourite client request?

I don't have a favourite one in particular but I do love it when a client requests a complete change as I love to see the end result.

What are your favourite techniques?

My current favourite has to be colour melting as its so creative and many ways to achieve different results at the end.

Talk us through your average day.

I open up and get a sense of pride in doing this I get everything ready for the day ahead. I greet my work colleagues Matthew White and Shannon Fryer who I absolutely love working with as we work so well together as a team we always have fun and share stories. We create a relaxed fun environment and always engage with our clients. We love our quirky regulars and welcome new clients eager to meet them and help them achieve their hair goals.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

My inspiration came from a salon I went to when I was around 13 years old. It was based in Bridgend. I can't remember the name of it but I do remember the stylist who cut my hair. She was so friendly and welcoming and made me feel special. Her work colleagues made an effort to engage with me and the whole atmosphere was great. I left absolutely loving my hair and couldn't wait until my next appointment! I knew then that was what I wanted to do and how I wanted to be.

What advice would you give with others?

My advice to others would be to never stop learning and never give up as hairdressing can be challenging but also rewarding. It's a fantastic, sociable profession with room to always progress and learn.

What are your hopes and plans for the future?

To inspire and help train others to be the very best they can be whilst building the business to the best can be.
